X-CELERATOR
The radical Speed Kite was developed especially for »stormy times«. It
requires the highest attention levels, quick reactions and a strong hand.
Beginners should leave it alone. The X-CELERATOR develops soaring speed
with increasing wind. At 3 Bft., the dance can begin. Fast, yet still manageable,
it flies powerful and precisely. Between 4 and 5 Bft., the pilot can feel the kite's
strength. Very powerful and rapid, it now requires the highest level of concent-
ration. What follows is already very extreme.
X-CELERATOR: speed paired with fierce power and good precision.
Tips for Assembly
Use the enclosed brochure, "Advice on Flying Sport Kites" when building
the X-Celerator. Both battens offer a special feature for assembly that are not
included in the standard instructions. Assemble the battens as follows:
1. Tighten the keel by hooking the loop into the split cam.
2. You can trim the X CELERATOR using the knot guide on the upper leading
edge connector. The kite is faster if the lark's head is set toward knot D.
If you choose knot A, the kite will hold its stiffest setting. With this setting,
you will get more pull, but the kite will be more difficult to start and fly. It
does increase the tendency to overturn.
In general, move the knots toward A for high wind and toward D for lighter
wind.
3. Insert the longer poles into the inside pockets (yellow) and the shorter
poles into the outside pockets (green).
4. Insert the other ends into the connectors on the bottom spreader.
5. Check the spacing of the connectors based on the dimensions shown in
Figure 5.
Tips for Starting
Because the optimized sail is flat for speed, it takes practice to start the
X-CELERATOR – particularly if you want to start the kite without a second
person for assistance.
It is easiest to lay the fly lines out completely, place the hand loop over a
ground anchor (tent peg or ground stake) and put some tension on the kite
lines so that it cannot start up on its own. In addition, tip the kite with the
flight tip toward the hand loop so that the nose tips back somewhat.
