1 Applications
The DNU-10 is a printed circuit board for universal appli-
cations for the construction of different impedance lineari-
zations as well as for the inductive rise of the speaker
impedance and especially for the free air resonance of the
speaker. The construction of absorption circuits for
linearizing the frequency response is identical to this
circuit technique.
Furthermore, basic but heavy-duty 2-way crossover
networks with 6 dB slope and the possibility of level at-
tenuation by a series resistor can be built with the DNU-10.

2 Safety Notes

The printed circuit board must exactly be assembled
according to these instructions. In case connections or
components are mixed up, amplifier and speakers may
be damaged or destroyed. In especially unfavourable
cases there is a fire hazard by short circuits or danger
by exploding capacitors.
In case of faulty calculation of the components damage
to speakers and amplifier may also occur as well as
burnings by overloaded components.
Prior to switching-on check the precise assembly and
correct connection as a precaution. Only operate the
crossover network if all speakers have been connected.
If the component calculation is faulty or if the printed cir-
cuit board has been assembled in the wrong way, not
correctly connected or used for purposes other than
originally intended, no liability can be taken over for pos-
sible damage.
If the assembled printed circuit board is to be put out of
operation definitively, it must be disposed of in a local
recycling plant.

3 General Construction

The construction size, capability, and quality of the compo-
nents to be inserted can be selected as desired within a
technically reasonable range. No further drill holes or
mechanical auxiliary constructions are required to realize
the desired circuit. The circuit diagrams on page 3 show
the possible maximum configurations when assembling all
existing component spaces:

use for impedance linearization or as absorption
circuit
Fig. 2:
use as 2-way crossover network 6 dB/6 dB
Different circuits can now be built up within the DNU-10 by
omitting components, inserting jumpers, if necessary, or
just by different pin connections.
Note: The component markings are indications for placing
which are in general not according to the corresponding
markings of existing circuit diagrams. It is necessary to
arrange components to be inserted according to their
functions.
4 Assembly
Due to the various circuits it is necessary to connect differ-
ent contacts of the DNU-10 completely independently of
their markings. The operating steps of the following para-
graphs have exactly to be observed!
4.1 Impedance linearization for the free air resonance of
the speaker
Please refer to fig. 1.
1) Assemble the following positions:
L1, C1, R1, and/or R2
2) Make the connections:
The contacts to the main crossover network or to the
speaker are "+IN" and "-IN".
4.2 Linearization of the inductive rise of the speaker
impedance
Please refer to fig. 1.
1) Assemble the following positions:
C1, R1, and/or R2
2) Solder a jumper into position L1.
3) Make the connections:
The contacts to the main crossover network or to the
speaker are "+IN" or "-IN".
4.3 Absorption circuit
Please refer to fig. 1.
1) Assemble the following positions:
L1, C1, R1, and/or R2
2) Make the connections:
The contacts to the main crossover network or to the
speaker are "+IN" and "-IN".
4.4 2-way crossover network low pass 6 dB / high pass 6 dB
Please refer to fig. 2.
1) Assemble positions L1 and C1.
2) Solder a jumper into position R1.
3) Make the connections:
Bass/midrange speaker
Lead the positive pole to contact "+IN" and the negative
pole to input terminal "-" of the speaker system.
Tweeter
Place the positive pole at contact "-IN" and the nega-
tive pole at terminal "-" of the speaker system.
Positive pole input terminal
Connect to "X".
4.5 2-way crossover network low pass 6 dB / high pass 6 dB
with level attenuation of the tweeter by series resistor
Please refer to fig. 2.
1) Assemble the following positions:
L1, C1, R1, and/or R2
2) Make the connections:
Bass/midrange speaker
Lead the positive pole to contact "+IN" and the negative
pole to input terminal "-" of the speaker system.
Tweeter
Place the positive pole at contact "-IN" and the nega-
tive pole at terminal "-" of the speaker system.
Positive pole input terminal
Connect to "X".
5 Polarities
The pole markings of all connections mainly serve for iden-
tification purposes. According to the submitted circuit dia-
gram or technical requirements of a new development the
speakers can or have to be connected sometimes with
"wrong polarity".
