1.
Slide the handle onto the end of the input shaft.
With a ¾" socket and ratchet tighten the 1/2 -13 locknut against
2.
handle until secure.
3.
Install cap on the handle by pressing into place.
• If replacing a strap, a grade 5 bolt
is required for strap mounting.
• Tighten the locknut just to where
end play in bolt is taken up. Over-
tightening can deform drum.
For winches having a strap anchor
included, pass the strap loop under
the cross bolt, insert strap anchor in
the strap loop, then pull tight.
1.
Choose a location capable of supporting at least 5 times the load the winch will be pulling. The winch stand must be of adequate
strength and equal size to the base of the winch frame.
Use at least 3 grade 5, 3/8" diameter bolts, flat washers, and locknuts (not supplied). Always use the widest possible bolt pattern at

3.
Place washers under the heads of the bolts and place the bolts into the slots of the base (those nearest the outside of the frame).
4.
Put a lock nut onto each bolt.
5.
Tighten nuts onto bolts until winch is secure on structure.
Let Line/Load Out:
1.
Before turning the handle, firmly grip the winch handle and disengage the ratchet pawl or engage it in the reverse direction. You may
have to take in a small amount of line to allow the ratchet pawl to disengage.
2.
Continue to crank load out steadily and in control.
3.
If you must stop before the load is fully out, be sure the ratchet pawl is engaged and gradually release the winch handle to be sure the
ratchet pawl is holding the load: clicking while letting out line does not mean the ratchet is in position to hold the load
Take Line/Load In:
1.
Be sure the ratchet pawl is engaged.
2.
As you turn the handle, make sure the strap, or rope is winding onto the drum properly. The strap, or rope should wind on matching
the three or more wraps of rope on the drum, or three layers of strap on the drum.
3.
If you must stop before the load is fully out, be sure the ratchet pawl is engaged and gradually release the winch handle to be sure the
ratchet pawl is holding the load.
The following procedures should be performed at least annually:
• The gears and bushings of the winch must be kept lubricated. Apply a
thin film of grease to the gear teeth and bushings as needed.
• The ratchet pivot point must be kept lubricated with a thin oil.
