If filled to the halfway mark it will operate for approximately 45 minutes.
Obviously
it
will
maximum fill. Always replace the filler cap tightly after filling.
DO NOT OVERFILL OR HOT WATER WILL BE FORCED UP THE STEAM
HOSE.
Connect one end of the hose to the thread on the top of the boiler and
the other end to the thread on the hand plate. This only needs to be hand
tight. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Connect the mains lead from the unit to the
socket and switch on. It will take between 5 and 15 minutes for the unit to
start producing steam depending on the temperature and quantity of the
water used. DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED.
Once steam is being produced at the hand plate you are ready to
commence operation. Prior to the steam being produced a small amount of
bubbling will occur at the steam plate. WARNING: beware of hot water
discharge prior to steam emission.
If you are right handed hold the steam plate in your left hand and place
flat against the wall where you wish to commence removing the paper.
Leave the plate against the wall for approximately 10 seconds. If you are
left handed you may find it easier to operate with the other hand.
Move the hand plate to the section immediately next to where you have
just been working and use a wallscraper to remove the section that has just
been steamed. By working in this way you should be able to remove paper
continually. You may have to leave the plate against the wall for longer periods
with some papers or re-steam if not completely removed.
Operate the steamer until the water level reaches minimum and then
unplug the unit and allow to cool for a minimum of 2 minutes. If you require fur-
ther use of the steamer remove the top filler cap carefully. Beware of steam.
Refill to the level indicator as before and follow the above instructions.
When you have finished using the unit allow any remaining water to cool
and then empty the unit. Never leave water in the unit whilst being stored.
There is a safety cut-out feature to prevent the unit overheating.
SAFETY CUT-OUT
If unit should cut-out when being used, this is because the safety thermal cut-out has operated. Wait 2
minutes and re-fill with water. The cut-out will reset itself and you should have to wait between five and ten
minutes before steam is again produced.
Unit Fails to Boil
The unit has probably not been left for long enough to cool - refer to section on safety cut-out. If using an
extension lead check that it is rated at a minimum of 10amps.
Unit Leaks Steam from Pressure Release Valve
The pressure release valve is a special low pressure valve. It must not be replaced by any other valve. Never
block the safety valve.
Allow time to cool then clean the rubber washer on the valve and the seat in the neck of the box.
Check the hose for kinks. Check the hole inside the steam plate for obstructions.
If the hose is blocked never force the safety valve closed.
