Always wear eye protection when operating or
performing maintenance on this tool.
Always turn off the air supply and disconnect the air
supply hose before installing, removing or adjusting
any accessory on this tool, or before performing any
maintenance on this tool.
DISASSEMBLY
General Instructions
1.
Do not disassemble the tool any further than
necessary to replace or repair damaged parts.
2.
Whenever grasping a tool or part in a vise, always use
leather–covered or copper–covered vise jaws to
protect the surface of the part or tool and help prevent
distortion. This is particularly true of threaded
members and housings.
3. Do not remove any part which is a press fit in or on a
subassembly unless the removal of that part is
necessary for repairs or replacement.
4. Do not disassemble the tool unless you have a
complete set of new gaskets and O–rings for
replacement.
5. Do not press any needle bearing from a part unless
you have a new needle bearing on hand for
installation. Needle bearings are always damaged
during the removal process.
Disassembly of Throttle Handle
1.
Remove the two Motor Housing Cap Screws (9) and
Motor Housing Lock Washers (10).
2.
Remove the Handle Seal (5) and Air Strainer Screen
(8).
3.
Grasp the Throttle Handle (47) in copper–covered
vise jaws and remove the Throttle Valve Cap (58) and
Throttle Valve Cap Seal (59). The Throttle Valve
Spring (57) and Throttle Valve Stem (53) are free to
fall out of the Handle. Make certain they don't get
lost.
4. To remove the Throttle Valve Face (54), grasp the
Throttle Valve Stem in copper–covered vise jaws,
Throttle Valve Face upward. Using a thin blade
screwdriver, remove the Valve Face Retaining Screw
(56). Lift off the Throttle Face Cap (55) and Throttle
Valve Face.
5. Remove the Throttle Lever (48) by pressing the
Throttle Lever Pin (51) from the Handle and remove
the Throttle Lever Lock (49) by pressing the Throttle
Lever Lock Pin (52) from the Handle. The Throttle
Lever Lock Plunger (50), Plunger Spring (60) and
Plunger Spring Seat (61) are free to be removed from
the Handle after the Lever Lock is removed.
MAINTENANCE SECTION
Disassembly of the Motor
1. Remove the Backhead Screws (16) and Lock
