Foundation soil
Before installation, the following points must be clarified:
•
The structural suitability of the foundation according to DIN 18196
•
Maximum occurring groundwater levels and water absorption capability of the subsoil
To determine the physical soil conditions, a soil survey should be requested from the local authority.
5.2
Excavation
To ensure that sufficient space is available, the base area of the excavation pit should extend past the
tank dimensions on all sides by > 500 mm; distance to permanent structures must be at least 1000 mm.
From a pit depth of > 1250 mm, an embankment is to be created according to DIN 4124. The foundation
soil must be horizontal and plane and must guarantee sufficient load capacity.
The depth of the pit must be dimensioned so that the max. soil coverage (780 mm above tank shoulder)
is not exceeded. For year-round use of the system, the tank and the water-bearing system components
must be installed in a frost free environment. In general, the frost-free depth is about 600 mm; exact in-
formation can be obtained from the relevant authority.
As a substructure, a layer of compacted rounded gravel (max. granulation 8/16 mm, thickness
100 - 150 mm) is applied.
