4. The soldering wire is filled with flux (to help it flow). Bring it to the
extreme end of the soldering tip and then melt it off (3). This will enable
the escaping flux to cover the soldering point, dissolve any oxides
that may be present, and ensure that the solder binds well with the
work-piece.
5. Use the stand (4) provided for resting the soldering iron.
Don't put the soldering iron down on any inflammable surface.
6. Do not shock-cool the soldering iron in water but just allow it to
cool off in the air.
7. The soldering tip must not be replaced until the soldering iron has
cooled off and has been disconnected from the mains. Pull the plug
out and loosen the fastening screws. Carefully loosen the tip with
gentle turning movements. Insert the new soldering tip as far as it will
go because otherwise the heating element will burn out immediately.
