5 Construction and function

5.1 Survey and functional description
Oventrop differential pressure regulators are
proportional regulators working without auxiliary
energy. The spring for nominal pressure can be set
with the help of the nominal value setting device. With
the differential pressure in the installation increasing,
the valve disc closes down and opens as the
differential pressure falls. The excess differential
pressure is reduced by the differential pressure
regulator, until the set differential pressure in the riser
is reached.
The Oventrop differential pressure regulator consists
of an oblique pattern body with 2 threaded ports and
a bonnet for differential pressure control. Both
threaded ports can be equipped with blind plugs, fill
and drain ball valves or measuring adapter for
differential pressure measurement.

6 Installation

The pipework has to be flushed thoroughly before
installation of the differential pressure regulator. The
installation of an Oventrop "Y" type strainer is
recommended.
Installation is possible in any orientation provided the
direction of flow conforms to the direction of the arrow
on the regulator body. The capillary should be fitted
above or horizontal to the supply pipe, to avoid
blockage of the capillary by small dirt particles, it
should not be connected to the supply pipe from
below.
The system must only be pressurised after the
capillary has been connected.
After installation of the regulator, the handwheel and
the measuring connections must be easily accessible.
Observe warning advice under paragraph 2
(safety notes)!
!
CAUTION
– Do not use any greasing agents or oil for the
installation, as these can destroy the seals. Any
dirt particles or grease or oil residues must be
flushed out before the regulator is installed.
– When choosing the operating fluid, the latest
technical development has to be considered
(e.g. VDI 2035).
– Please protect against external forces (e.g.
impacts, vibrations etc.).
After installation, check all installation points for leaks.
