DST Digital Static Transducer
1 – SUMMARY
The digital static transducers are designed for testing wrenches, click wrenches or for tightening tools
where rotary action is not desired during measurement. In case of Shut-Off tool test a joint simulator
as accessory is required.
The new generation of transducers improves durability thanks to its new mechanical design.
Due to the technology of the transducer, it may be used with SIGMA2001, SIGMA2D, DELTA4000,
DELTA4D, DELTA5000, DELTA5D or DELTA 1D/6D/7D readouts. These models are not sensitive to
the cable length between the transducer and readout because the "torque" or "torque and angle"
signals are converted to a numerical value in the transducer. The exclusively numerical link between
the units provides reliability for the measurement and immunity from any external interference. No
settings are necessary and therefore no risk of error is possible when connecting one of these
transducers – they are automatically recognised due to an internal memory which stores the identity,
characteristics and maintenance data.
2 – OPERATION
Select a suitable size of transducer appropriate to the maximum torque rating of the tool used.
Connect to the readout, select an appropriate operating mode and then operate the tool in the normal
way. In the interests of accuracy, it is essential to maintain the correct alignment between the
fastener, the transducer and the power tool. Failure to observe the maximum torque rating may cause
irreversible damage to the transducer.
