GCE HIGH PRESSURE CYLINDER VALVES FOR TECHNICAL GASES
INFORMATION SHEET (OWNER / INSTALLER)
This information sheet covers essential information for fitting, guarding, filling and maintenance of GCE High Pressure Cylinder
Valves for technical gases.
1. FOREWORD
The product complies with essential requirements of 2010/35/E Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive.
2. INTENDED FOR USE
Cylinder valves for technical gases are used for pressure cylinders with the water capacity up to 150 litres, designed for compressed
or condensed gases or for gases dissolved under high pressure. Cylinder valves ensure shutting off the gas flow into the cylinder
(and out of it), filling the cylinder with gas and controlling the gas flow out of the cylinder. Cylinder valves with non-rotation design of
lower spindle are designed for gas cylinders with working pressure up to 200 bars. Cylinder valves with rotation design of lower
spindle are designed for gas cylinders with working pressure up to 300 bars. Cylinder valves for N
with a safety device which prevents the rise of pressure in the cylinder. Cylinder valves could be equipped with Residual Pressure
Device (RPD) in accordance with EN ISO 15996 that preserves the residual pressure in the cylinder.
3. FITTING
1.
This product is supplied in various versions for use with different gases and different cylinder neck threads. Before fitting the valve
to a cylinder, check the information on the valve packaging to ensure you have the correct gas version and stem thread compatible
with the cylinder to be fitted.
2.
Valves must be fitted to cylinders according to the requirements of EN ISO 13341. Particular care should be taken to ensure the
thread sealant material is applied correctly and is compatible with the gas service and pressure.
3.
Valves must be fitted to cylinders equipped with valve protection device.
4.
Use a suitable drive tool locating on the body immediately above the valve stem thread.
5.
Valving torque should be in accordance with EN ISO 13341. Do not over tighten valve stem thread in the cylinder neck.
6.
Maintain oxygen cleanness standards during fitting.
4. GUARDING
1.
Valve guarding shall be provided according to ISO 11117.
5. FILLING
1.
The product is supplied in various versions of connection standards. Check the connection standard in information on the valve
packaging or on body of the cylinder valve.
2.
In case of using valves equipped with Residual Pressure Device (RPD) only filling adapters specified by valve producer shall be
used.
3.
During filling the ON / OFF handwheel / spindle key must be fully open. Note: Open anticlockwise, close clockwise.
4.
After filling do not use an excessive force to close the valve (no more than 7 Nm). Use only the correct spindle key on key operated
valves.
5.
After first filling check cylinder / valve joint for leaks. For oxygen and air equipment use only leak detection fluids approved for use
with oxygen systems. Warning: Do not use leak detection or cleaning fluids containing ammonia or other substances, that can cause
stress corrosion cracking in brass materials.
6. MAINTENANCE
1.
GCE High Pressure Cylinder Valves for technical gases contain no user replaceable parts. It is recommended by GCE to renew or
replace the valves after ten years service.
2.
Contact your local GCE representative for further details, before returning or removing the product. All components should be
disposed of according to local environmental laws applicable in the country of disposal. If required, a list of component materials
is available from GCE.
7. TECHNICAL DATA
1.
Cylinder pressure:
- Cylinder Valves: nominal cylinder valve pressure is marked on the body of valve.
- Valves with Safety Devices: overpressure at which safety device will relief gas is marked on the safety screw.
