– Mark the detected leak so you have no problem locating it later when carrying
out the repair.
Beware of interpreting the measurement results incorrectly
The position of a leak may not be identified for any of the following reasons:
The system to be checked is not pressurised.
The WABCO Leakage Detector is not ready for operation.
The volume is set too low.
The distance between the probe and the leak position is too great.
If in doubt, the result must be verified by other means, such as a leak detection
spray.
– When you have finished working with the WABCO Leakage Detector, press the
button (A) to switch it off.
The device will also switch itself off automatically after 10 minutes.
– Store the device in a safe and dry space.
Before you rely on the evidence produced by the WABCO Leakage Detector you
should already be familiar with its behaviour near an actual leak.
– Deliberately produce a leak.
For this purpose, carefully loosen a union on a line that is under low pressure.
Use the WABCO Leakage Detector to monitor the union while slowly loosening
it.
Make sure you do not endanger yourself or others.
– Do not open the union any further once the WABCO Leakage Detector first sig-
nals that air is escaping from the union.
– Use a method you are familiar with, a leak detection spray for example, to as-
sess the size of the leak so you can compare this with the results from the
WABCO Leakage Detector.
– Fasten the union again by applying the correct tightening torque and ascertain
that the union is now tight.
When the indicator (B) flashes, the internal battery needs to be recharged.
Try to charge the battery only when required as this will protect the battery.
Charging the WABCO Leakage Detector is only permitted at ambient temperatures
between 0 °C and 40 °C.
The WABCO Leakage Detector can still be used for leak detection while it is charg-
ing
The device can be operated for up to 10 hours when powered by the battery.
Only use the provided power supply (3) to charge the WABCO Leakage Detector.
– Plug the charger cable into the socket (E) on the WABCO Leakage Detector.
– Connect the charger to a 230 V socket.
The red indicator (F) is lit during the charging process.
– Only stop charging when the red indicator (F) has gone out.
If the battery is completely discharged, the charging time is around 9 hours.
The WABCO Leakage Detector is protected against overcharging.
