Maintenance and storage
a) If the hedge trimmer is shut down for mainte-
nance, inspection or storage, switch off the
motor and make sure that all rotating parts have
come to a standstill. Allow the appliance to cool
down before carrying out an inspection, adjust-
ments, etc.
b) Store the hedge trimmer where the petrol
vapours cannot come into contact with flames
or sparks. Always allow the hedge trimmer to
cool down before storage.
c) When transporting or storing the hedge trimmer,
cover the cutting unit with the protective cover
for the cutting unit.
RESIDUAL RISKS
Even if you operate this power tool properly, there
will still be residual risks. Due to the design and
construction of this power tool, the following
hazards may occur:
a) Cuts
b) Hearing damage, if no suitable hearing protec-
tion is worn.
c) Damage to health resulting from hand-arm
vibrations if the appliance is used for an
extended period of time or is not properly used
and maintained.

Use only the additional equipment and accesso-
ries specified in the operating instructions. Using
attachments or accessory tools other than those
recommended in the operating instructions can
lead to a risk of injury.
Additional safety instructions
■
Make sure that there are no bystanders or
animals within a radius of 15 metres when
using the tool. The operator is responsible for
third parties within the working area.
■
Keep the appliance, the cutting mechanism and
the blade guard in good condition to prevent
injury.
■
Children must be supervised to make sure that
they do not play with the appliance.
■
Do not use the tool until you have familiarised
yourself with its use.
■
Do not work with a damaged or incomplete
appliance or an appliance that has been modi-
fied without the consent of the manufacturer.
Never use the tool with defective protective
equipment. Do not use the appliance if it has a
defective On/Off switch. Before use, check the
appliance's safety condition, especially the
blade and the saw chain. If the tool has been
dropped, check it for significant damage or
defects.

Never start the tool before it is correctly assem-
bled.

When starting and operating the tool, ensure
that it does not come into contact with the
ground, stones, wire or other foreign material.
Switch off the appliance before you put it down.

The device is designed for two-handed opera-
tion. Never work with one hand.
■
Make sure that the appliance is switched off
when relocating the appliance and that you
cannot accidentally touch the On/Off switch.
Carry the appliance with the blade facing back-
wards. Fit the blade guard during transporta-
tion.
