3. Pour the substrate into the aquarium (Fig. 4). The following set-up on the bottom of the tank has
been proven effective: 1.5 – 4 cm of JBL PROFLORA AquaBasis Plus, the substrate developed
specially for aquarium plants, as the bottom layer, directly on the heating cable. Then cover this
with a 4 – 8 cm thick layer of JBL Manado. Finally insert the plants and fill the aquarium with wa-
ter.
Electrical connection
4. Attach the two cold supply lines (4a) to the connecting terminals of the switching power supply
unit (2). To do this, press in the terminals and insert the line into the terminal. Set polarity as re-
quired.
5. Connect the switching power supply unit (2) to the mains via the power supply cable (1).
Operation

warmer than the tank water and should operate non-stop. But it is not able to heat all the water in the
tank. That is why a standard aquarium heater (e.g. JBL PROTEMP
the tank. When the weather is hot in summer, an interval operation of the substrate heater is advisable
in order to prevent the aquarium from becoming too hot. A shop bought automatic timer can be used
to operate the substrate heater for short durations at regular intervals (e.g. 15 min every hour). When
water temperatures exceed 30 °C, the substrate heater needs to be turned off altogether.
Storage
Store the device in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight and inaccessible to children.
