INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Follow these instructions carefully and keep for future reference.
• A copy of the safety information shall be provided to the owner of the building in which the
Window Stop is installed and to the occupant in the dwelling where the opening control
device is installed or is to be installed.
• When the Window Stop is properly installed and engaged, no space shall exist at the lowest
opening portion of the window opening that would permit the passage of a rigid sphere
measuring 4" in diameter.
• Failure to follow these instructions may result in the Window Stop being ineffective in
preventing falls through an open window.
• Building and fire codes should be consulted before installing the Window Stop. Contact
local building code department or fire department for specific applicable codes.
WARNING
Possible Fall Hazard
• Young children may fall out of the window if the Window Stop is not installed correctly.
• Install Window Stop so that a rigid 4" diameter sphere does not pass through any space in
the window opening after the Window Stop is in place.
Young children may fall out of the window if all installation instructions
are not followed:
• Use the recommended materials and techniques.
• Make sure that the Window Stop is securely attached, as directed, to the window frame.
• Make sure that the window frame is in good condition.
INSTALLATION FOR SINGLE/DOUBLE HUNG WINDOWS
Follow these instructions carefully and keep for future reference.

Place Window Stop 4" above center sash on left or right side of window, either on
molding or on window frame.

On some windows, including vinyl, it may be necessary to locate the
Window Stop base on the side jamb.

Mark screw holes. Create a pilot hole, if desired. Screw in Window Stop using screws provided.

Place Window Stop 4" to side of center sash, on top of window either on molding or on
window frame. Mark screw holes.

On some windows, including vinyl, it may be necessary to locate the
Window Stop base on the top jamb.

OPERATION
Once installed, check that release
mechanism operates properly and then
close securely.
1 Open window to where Window Stop
blocks it. This should be no more than
a 4" opening.

To open window more than 4", pull arm
away from window (2A). Hold arm at open
position when lifting window with other
hand (2B). When it clears sash, push
window open and release arm (2C).
3 Release arm. It will automatically fall to
rest on side window sash.
4 When closing window, Window Stop
will automatically reset, by snapping
back in place.
NOTE: Some side window sashes will be
narrow and Window Stop will rest on glass
when window is open more than 4". When this
is the case, pull arm away from window when
closing. Once window is closed, release arm
and Window Stop will automatically reset.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
• Once Window Stop is installed, there should be no space large enough at the smallest open portion
of the window opening for a 4" rigid sphere to pass through.
• Window Stop will automatically re-engage after window is closed completely.
• In case of an emergency, pull arm away from window. When it clears sash, push window open.
• To ensure proper usage, Window Stop should be maintained and tested monthly. After testing,
Window Stop should be securely closed.
• All household members six years old and older should know how to operate the release mechanism
in case of an emergency.
