Step 2
Insert latch and hinge spindles
into upper and lower holes on
the end of one gate frame.
Step 3
Set the appropriate width of the gate by overlapping the
two frames to the extent necessary to allow room for the
hinge and latch spindles. The minimum allowable overlap
is two bars. The maximum allowable overlap is seven bars.
Note: The upper and lower latch and hinge spindles are
adjustable to accommodate the gap between the gate frame
and the opening.
Step 4
Secure the gate frames together by
connecting the upper and lower
assembly ttings to both the top
and bottom of the gate frames.
Note: Do not mount hardware into sheetrock or plaster. Hardware is

included for use in solid materials only, such as wood or metal.
Use the template provided to mark the
screw hole positions on the surface to
which the hinge side of the gate will be
mounted.
a. On the upper hinge holder, press the
release button to remove the cover
and secure the hinge holder with the
screws provided. Note: do not put the
cover back on at this time.
b. Secure the lower hinge holder with the
screws provided.
Recess the gate at least 1" from the edge
of the top stair.
Step 6
Use the template provided to mark the screw hole positions
on the surface to which the latch side of the gate will be
mounted.
a. Determine the direction you would like the gate to swing.
b. Insert gate stop tab into the slot located on the lower
latch on the side you want to prevent the gate from
swinging towards.
Note: If you are not using this at the top of the stairs and would
like the gate to swing in both directions, do not install the gate
stop tab into the lower latch.
c. Secure the lower latch with the screws provided.
d. Secure the upper latch with the screws provided.
