Lubricating the Auger Assembly
1. Stop the engine and remove the key.
2. Lubricate the auger shaft assembly (A, Figure 24) with
grease at the grease fittings (if equipped).

Lubricating the Hex Shaft and Gear
For friction drive systems only:

NOTICE DO NOT let grease or oil touch the rubber friction
wheel or the disc drive plate. If grease or oil touches the friction
wheel, replace it. Do not attempt to clean it. If grease or oil
touches the disc drive plate, clean it fully with an alcohol based
solvent.
1. Stop the engine and remove the key.
2. Move the speed select lever to the first forward gear.
WARNING
Fuel and its vapors are extremely flammable, which could
cause burns or fire resulting in death of serious injury.
• During maintenance, if it is necessary to tip the unit, the
fuel tank must be empty or the fuel can leak out and result
in a fire or explosion.
3. Lift the snowthrower up on the auger housing end.
Note: When the crankcase is filled with oil, do not keep the
snowthrower up on the auger housing for an extended period
of time.
4. Remove the screws (A, Figure 25) and the bottom panel
(B).
5. Before storage and at the beginning of each season,
lubricate the hex shaft (B, Figure 26) with motor oil.
6. Before storage and at the beginning of each season,
lubricate the sprocket and chain (A) with motor oil.
7. Install the bottom panel (B, Figure 25) and screws (A).
