BEFORE USING YOUR SLOW COOKER FOR THE
FIRST TIME
Carefully unpack the appliance and remove all packaging materials
from inside and around the unit. Wash the lid and the cooking pot with
warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. To remove any dust that may
have accumulated during packaging, wipe the exterior of the unit with
a cloth lightly moistened in warm water and dry thoroughly.
WARNING: Do not immerse the unit, cord or plug in water or any
other liquid. Do not pour or run water onto the power base. Do not
use harsh or abrasive cleansers on any part of the appliance.
NOTE: During the first use, the unit may emit a small amount of
smoke and a slight smell; this is normal, the unit is burning off the
residues from the manufacturing process. The odor is harmless
and should not reoccur after the initial heating.
BENEFITS OF SLOW COOKING
Health: The gentle cooking action reduces damage to vitamins and
retains more nutrients and flavors.
Economy: Long, slow cooking can tenderize cheap and tougher
cuts of meat. Slow cooking also uses about a quarter of the power
of the small ring on the average stove burner.
Convenience: Prepare the ingredients the night before; add them
to the slow cooker in the morning before you leave for work, and
have a delicious meal waiting for you when you get home.

COOKING MODES

• Low: suitable for traditional "slow cooking".
• High: suitable for "fast cooking", using the slow cooker as an electric
stewpot. Pay close attention to make sure that the food does not dry
out. If the preparation seems drying out, add hot water.
• Warm: ONLY for keeping fully cooked food at the perfect serving
temperature. DO NOT cook on the WARM setting.
