Objects may be thrown or
ricochet in all directions.
To reduce risk of injury to
operator, never operate a
trimmer without a properly
configured and mounted
deflector. Keep bystand‐
ers at least 15 m (50 ft.)
away.
To reduce risk of eye injury,
always wear goggles or close-fit‐
ting protective glasses with ade‐
quate side protection that are
impact-rated and marked as
0457-363-0157-A. VA2.L20.
complying with ANSI Z87 "+"
(US), EN 166 (Europe) or your
national standard.
■ To reduce the risk of hearing damage,
wear sound barriers (ear plugs or ear
muffs).
■ A cracked, damaged or worn out mow‐
ing head may shatter at high speeds
and cause serious or fatal injury. To
reduce risk of injury from broken parts,
check condition of trimmer and mowing
head before starting work and at regu‐
lar short intervals thereafter.
■ Do not use the mowing head if the
wear marks (1) become visible,
Replace the mowing head immediately.
■ Replace the polymer blades if any one
becomes reduced in length to less than
83 mm (3.2 in.). All polymer blades
must be replaced at the same time.
■ Do not use the mowing head if the pol‐
ymer blade is worn or damaged,
Replace the polymer blades immedi‐
ately. To reduce the risk of personal
injury, use only genuine STIHL polymer
replacement blades.
Keep polymer blades and mowing lines in
a water bath between 12 hours and 24
hours before use to increase their useful
life.
