ONLY WORK ON A COOL ENGINE!
1. With the radiator cool, carefully remove the pressure cap from the radiator or
service tank.
2. Check coolant level. Fill to recommended level.
3. Clean the inside of cap opening. Inspect the sealing surface, make sure it is in
good condition.
4. Check the overflow tube/passage for dents or internal obstruction. Pressure
released by the cooling system during vehicle operation must pass through
this tube.
5. Install tool onto cooling system. When an adaptor is required, install adaptor
first. Always wet the rubber gasket of the adaptor and tester head before
attaching onto cooling system. NOTE: To attach the pump to the adaptor or
cap opening keep the locking ears in line with the entrance notches of the
opening. Press down slightly and rotate the tester head LEVER clockwise until
the lever climbs up, onto (Fig 1), and completely over ramp cams (Fig 2) so
that the tester head is fully engaged and sealed.
To test radiator with 1" deep filler necks, insert 1/4" thick Rubber Spacer Washer
prior to connecting the tester head to cap opening.
6. Once the tester head is attached to the radiator/adaptor, operate the pump
until the gauge indicates the rated pressure of the system being tested.
NEVER TEST A SYSTEM BEYOND THE MAXIMUM PRESSURE SPECIFIED.
Check manufacturer specifications to determine the proper pressure cap for each
system. DO NOT allow the pressure to build up past the maximum for the system
being tested.
IMPORTANT: This tester is designed to release pressure slightly above 30 psi (205
kilopascal).
