Assembly
2. Installation
2.1 Radio antenna
In ready-fitted vehicles (e.g. VW, Seat,
Audi) the antenna supply voltage is
provided through the antenna cable
(see the vehicle's user instructions).
You can obtain an antenna supply
junction piece (order no. 7 691 290
202) or the adapter cable (order no.
7 607 621 129) from your dealer.
Fitting and connecting the cable are
described in the antenna fitting instruc-
tions.
2.2 Installation orientation
The device must be fitted at an angle
of between 0° and +20°. The Aspen/
Chicago IVDM-7003 is not suitable for
vertical fitting.
2.3 Fitting the bracket
The bracket included with the Aspen/
Chicago IVDM-7003 allows it to be
mounted in vehicles with a DIN car ra-
dio slot with dimensions of 182 x 53 x
180 mm and with instrument panels
that are between 1 and 20 mm thick in
the region of the securing tabs (see
Fig. 3). To mount the device you must
push the bracket into the opening and
check which of the bracket's securing
tabs can be bent over with a screw-
driver (see Fig. 3a).
Note: Bend all the securing tabs if
possible.
2.4 Mounting the monitor unit
Push all the plugs fully into their cham-
bers so that they engage. Then place
the Aspen/Chicago IVDM-7003 into the
bracket at the front (see Fig. 3).
Push the device in by gently pressing
both ends of the frame until the catch
springs at the side lock into place (you
will hear a distinct click).
Warning! Do not press the display,
knobs or switches when pushing
the device into place!
2.5 Removing the monitor unit
Remove the plastic masking frame. You
must now push the clips in between the
devicexind the mounting frame on the
left and the right, and press them in until
a distinct click can be heard (the springs
at the side disengage). Now carefully
withdraw the Aspen/Chicago IVDM-
7003 using the two clips. The connect-
ing cable can now be released and with-
drawn (see Fig. 4).
Note: When the clips have engaged,
they can only be removed by with-
drawing the Aspen/Chicago IVDM-
7003.
2.6 Fitting the amplifier
Mount the amplifier in a suitable loca-
tion using the enclosed angle bracket
(see Fig. 5).
Make sure that the fan's outlet open-
ing is not covered. Use the connecting
cable to join the tuner unit to the mon-
itor unit (see Fig. 2).
