SAFETY NOTICES

DO NOT use cleaning agents containing iodi-
de. Always rinse the transducer in water after
the use of any cleaning agents. Make sure the
transducer is clean and dry before storing.
DO NOT autoclave or use an ultrasonic pro-
cess on the transducer. Max. temperature 70˚C.
DO NOT immerse connector into any kind of
liquid.
DO NOT pull cable, either at transducer or
connector end.
DO NOT expose the metal diaphragm of the
transducer to any hard, sharp or pointed objects,
or to unnecessary forces. When the transducer
is not being used, the protection cap or a clean
and dry, dome should always be mounted.
MAKE SURE that the dome has not been pres-
surized before it is mounted on the transducer.
MAKE SURE that if a syringe is used to flush
the dome and the tubing system, it should be 10
ml. or larger.
MAKE SURE that the port to atmosphere is
open on the transducer dome when flushing the
dome. Flushing slowly will remove bubbles
more efficiently.
MAKE SURE that warm flush fluid is being
used, as warm flush fluid will decrease the
occurence of spontaneous bubbles.
MAKE SURE that all bubbles have been flush-
ed completely from the dome and tubing sys-
tems before using.
Please note: Use only MEMSCAP specified
adapter cable, when required. Original MEMS-
CAP adapter cable has blue connector and
coded for the MEMSCAP transducer.
WARNING: DO NOT RE-USE OR RE-STERILIZE THE DISPOSABLE DOME.
IN ADDITION, SEE SAFETY NOTICES.

RECOMMENDED
START UP PROCEDURE
1. Turn on the monitor and connect the trans-
ducer to the pressure registration unit. Make
sure that the connector is fitted correctly. The
monitor may require some warm-up time
whereas the SP 844 is instantly ready for use.
2. Remove the protection cap from the trans-
ducer, and slide it down the cable.
3. Fill and flush the tubing system (dome,
interconnecting tubing, stopcocks). It is better
to do this before attaching the dome (and the
tubing system) to the transducer, since all parts
can be viewed and manipulated more easily. To
minimize the formation of bubbles, use fluid at
room temperature or above and fill the system
slowly. When this procedure is correctly
followed, the tubing system assembled and fil-
led should be free of bubbles, and the dome dia-
phragm should not be distended.
4. Now, mount the disposable dome on the
transducer (keep the filled dome vented to
atmospheric pressure). (NB! There should NOT
be any liquid between the dome and the trans-
ducer. Vaseline or grease should only be app-
lied to the transducer diaphragm when negative
pressure below - 10 mmHg is to be measured.)
5. Mount the transducer at the level where the
pressure is to be measured.
6. Zero and calibrate the monitor as per the
manufacturers instruction.
7. Following use, clean, dry and store the trans-
ducer safely, in its box.
