FIRST LEAK TEST (SOAPY WATER)
CLOSE
both torch handle valves, turning clockwise
CLOSE
regulators, turning valve counterclockwise until loose
OPEN
cylinder valves turning counterclockwise only until gas starts flowing
WARNING: ONLY OPEN ACETYLENE CYLINDER VALVE 1/4 TO 1/2 TURN, KEEP TANK WRENCH ON ACETYLENE
CYLINDER'S VALVE WHENEVER CYLINDER IS IN USE TO ALLOW FOR QUICK SHUTOFF
ADJUST
oxygen regulator to deliver 20 PSIG
ADJUST
acetylene regulator to deliver 10 PSIG (DO NOT EXCEED 15 PSI ACETYLENE PRESSURE)
CHECK
all connections for leaks using soapy water
SECOND LEAK TEST (GAUGE MONITORING)
FOLLOW
all steps above to prepare for gauge monitoring test
CLOSE
both cylinder valves turning clockwise
MONITOR
gauges on both regulators for five minutes
If the readings do not change, the test is complete. If any readings change, there is a leak on that side of the system.
Follow gauge leak analysis to diagnose
COMMON PROBLEMS
CYLINDER PRESSURE DECREASES &
DELIVERY PRESSURE INCREASES
CYLINDER PRESSURE DECREASES
BUT DELIVERY PRESSURE REMAINS
CONSTANT
IF DELIVERY PRESSURE DECREASES
LOCATION OF LEAK
1. Leak in the regulator seal
1. Leak is at the cylinder valve.
2. Leak is at the connection
between regulator and cylinder
valve.
1. Leak is at the regulator outlet
connection within the hose.

REMEDIES
Have the regulator repaired by a qualified technician.
DANGER! DO NOT TIGHTEN OR ADJUST ANY CONNECTION BETWEEN THE
CYLINDER AND THE CYLINDER VALVE. IF CYLINDER VALVE IS LEAKING
MOVE OUTSIDE AND NOTIFY GAS SUPPLIER. Release pressure from the
system. Tighten connection between regulator and cylinder valve. Repeat
gauge leak test. If leak is still present test other cylinder. After testing both
cylinders, if leak is still present have regulator repaired by qualified technician.

connection. Tighten the torch handle inlet connection. Repeat gauge
leak test. If leak is still present, have torch handle examined by
qualified technician. If hoses are leaking, replace them. DO NOT
