Note: IM service involves the transmission of data. Check with your service provider for
details about fees in your home network and when roaming on other networks. Your
service provider can explain what charges will apply. The availability of IM service
depends on the offer of your service provider. Check with your service provider for the
availability of IM service.
Instant messaging (IM) (network service) allows you to chat with other people using
instant messages and join discussion forums (IM groups) with specific topics. Various
service providers maintain compatible IM servers that you can log in to after you register
to an IM service. Service providers may differ in their support of features.
Before you can use Instant messaging, you must save the settings to access the service
that you want to use. The settings may be preconfigured in your device, or you may
receive the settings as a configuration message from the service provider that offers
the IM service. You can also enter the settings manually.
