Traxxas High-Current Connector Instructions
Tools needed:
• Side cutters or needle nose pliers
• Wire stripper
• Flat blade screwdriver
• Soldering iron (minimum of 40 watts)
• 60/40 rosin core solder (0.030" to 0.050")
• Soldering flux (optional if using rosin core solder)
+ Positive (Red)
- Negative (Black)

Soldering the wire to a terminal:
Caution: Soldering iron, freshly
tinned wire and soldered terminal
will be HOT.
1. For battery packs, cut and install
one wire at a time. (A)
2. Strip the wire insulation to
expose up to 4mm of wire.
Important: Do not expose more
than 4mm of bare wire. (B)
3. Tin exposed wire with solder.
Heat the exposed wire with the
tip of the soldering iron until the
solder melts when placed against
the wire (C). Tip: Touch the solder
to the wire, not the soldering
iron. Solder will flow around and
completely coat the wire.
4. Place the terminal on a
workbench or wood block, then
touch the tinned wire to the
terminal. Make sure no portion of
the wire is past the "solder limit
line" (see illustration above right).
Apply heat and pressure to the
tinned wire with the soldering iron
until the solder melts onto the
terminal. Remove the soldering
iron and hold the wire in place until
the solder cools and hardens. (D)
5. Allow all components to cool.
Slightly pull on the wire and
terminal to test the strength of
solder joint.

Installing the terminal:
6. Insert the terminal into the appropriate opening in the
housing based on letter ("A" for Male connector or "B"
for Female) and wire color (red wire for positive or black
wire for negative). Listen for a "snap" to indicate when
the terminal is in place (E). Tip: Use the edge of a small
flat blade screwdriver or hard edge to aid with terminal
insertion. (F)
7. Repeat steps 2 through 6
Minimum
for the other wire. When
40 watt iron
assembled correctly,
there will be no exposed
wiring and there will be
an approximate 1mm
gap between the end
of the terminal and the
connector housing. (G)
