CONGRATULATIONS ON THE PURCHASE OF YOUR NEW "CARROMCO" SCOOTER!
In an effort to promote safety and fun with your use of the scooter, we at CARROMCO would like to offer the following
maintenance and safety information to improve your scooter safety and enjoyment. Your CARROMCO scooter is
a quality scooter. It has been constructed utilising quality components available through most bicycle shops. With
periodic maintenance, common sense use and care, your scooter can provide many years of riding enjoyment.
PLEASE NOTE - If you are missing a part, or if you have any questions, please do not return the scooter to the
store, please call or contact the Customer Service Centre (+49 (0) 1805 25 63 63, service@carromco.com) and we
will endeavour to assist with any queries that you may have. Please also note your model number (as detailed on the
front page of this manual and also located on the barcode panel of the colour label on the front apron of the carton
packaging) as this information is necessary should you need to contact us with any product queries.
PRE-RIDE INSPECTION
To ensure the scooter is in good condition, you must do the following before every ride:
• Make sure there are no missing or damaged parts.
• Check to make sure all the fasteners are tightened securely (bar clamp bolts, grip locking bolts, wheel bolts).
• Make sure the handlebar is perpendicular to the front wheel.
• Spin each wheel make sure the wheel rotates smoothly indicating that the bearings are undamaged.
• Check the deck condition. Make sure the traction surface is in good condition (not worn away or slippery).
• Check to make sure the flex brake works before you ride. At very slow speed, apply the brake and make sure you
are able to stop the scooter normally.
REPLACEMENT OF WHEELS
To change the wheels, loosen the axle fitting with 2 Allen keys and take the wheels off the axle. The Allen key can be
used to push the bearings out of the wheel to use them in the new wheel. However, it is usually advisable to change
the bearings when the wheels are changed. Put the bearings into the new wheel with the bolt spacer and mount
them to the frame with the axle screws. Make sure the axle has been screwed on tightly before starting again!
ALLOY CORE WHEELS
Please note all alloy core wheels are prone to separate from PU wheels if user land the scooter on the edge of the
wheel.
HOW TO RIDE AND BRAKE
Place one foot on the deck, push forward with the other foot. For enhanced cornering, lean slightly into the direction
of the turn. The flex brake is a friction brake designed to slow the scooter, not stop it abruptly. Do not rely on it to stop
the scooter very quickly. It is only capable of slowing the scooter. Use the brake to slow the scooter, press the flex
brake against the wheel in an on and off motion with your shoe. Depending on your foot position on the deck, this
means shifting your shoe to do it. Do not skid. Skidding will cause a flat spot in the tire of your scooter. Wheel rotation
can become rough or unstable. We recommend that you practice applying the brake at various speeds and in an
open area free from obstructions before riding your scooter around others. Please check the brake performance after
each use. The brake will get hot from continuous use. Do not touch after braking.
MAINTENANCE
Under normal circumstances and conditions, the wheels and wheel bearings are maintenance free. Nonetheless,
it is the responsibility of the owner or guardian to periodically inspect the wheels for wear and tear, the axle for
proper tightness and wheel bearings for side-to-side play and loose parts. When a wheel or wheel bearing develops
play, this is an indication of excess wear and replacement is necessary. Replace immediately with only genuine
wheels. Worn tires/ wheels/ wheel bearings are considered normal wear-and-tear and are not covered by the retailer
warranty. The wheels and the axis bolt are fixed with locking bolts and locking nuts, which do not loosen in normal
use. Self-locking nuts and other self-locking fixings may lose their effectiveness over time. Therefore, check the
tightness of the bolts and nuts before each use. It is most important to replace worn or damaged handlebar grips. Do
not make any modification other than mentioned in this instruction.
SAFETY WARNINGS
Please read below instruction before using the scooter.
This scooter is not a toy and it must be used under the direct supervision of an adult.
