 The room must also allow the necessary entry of air for
proper combustion. The airflow for combustion purposes
should not be less than 2 m³/h per kW of installed capacity.
The air supply can be made through a direct entry from the
outside through a conduit with an internal cross section of at
least 125 cm2, which must be carefully placed to avoid
accidental blockage. Gas hob without safety devices must
have a ventilation opening twice as large as the one
mentioned below (Fig.3). Otherwise, the room must be
ventilated indirectly through adjacent rooms with ventilation
conduits to the outside as described below, as long as these
adjacent rooms are not shared areas, bedrooms or fire
hazards (Fig. 4).
 Intensive and prolonged use of the gas hob may require
additional ventilation, e.g. opening windows or increasing the
power of the air intake system.
 Liquefied petroleum gases are heavier than air, so they will
be located at the bottom. The rooms where LPG tanks are
installed shall have ventilation openings to the outside; this,
in order to allow the gas to escape in case of a leak. Similarly,
LPG tanks, even if empty or half-full, must not be installed or
stored in rooms or spaces below ground level (basements,
etc.). Also, keep only the tank that is being used in the room,
and make sure that it is not near heat sources (ovens,
