The symbols on batteries mean:
The crossed out wheelie bin symbol means the battery must not be disposed with household waste.
Pb = battery contains over 0.004 percent by mass of lead
Cd = battery contains over 0.002 percent by mass of cadmium
Hg = battery contains over 0.0005 percent by mass of mercury.

Information Obligations under The Electrical and Electronics Equipment Law
Every consumer is obligated by law to dispose of waste electrical equipment separate from
household waste as they contain harmful substances and valuable resources. Electrical equipment is
marked with the symbol shown below, which means it must not be disposed of with household
waste.
Waste electrical equipment can be taken to an approved collection point. This may be e.g. a local
recycling facility.
These accept waste electrical equipment free of charge for environmentally friendly and resource-
conserving recycling.
