9. WARNINGS ON USE
9.1 General warnings
1. Do not use the electric wheelchair on public highways. Please be aware that it may be
difficult for drivers to see you when you are sitting on the electric wheelchair. Always use
pedestrian routes. Comply with the rules of pedestrian traffic. Wait for the way to be clear,
then proceed with extreme caution.
2. Before getting into or out of your electric wheelchair, always check that it is switched off
and that the battery charger is disconnected, to avoid injury to yourself or to others.
3. Always check that the drive wheels are in drive mode before driving. Do not switch off the
electric wheelchair when it is still moving, as it would stop very suddenly.
4. Do not use this product or any other optional accessory available without first reading
and understanding this manual completely. If you do not understand the warnings,
the precautions or the instructions, contact the retailer or a healthcare operator before
attempting to use the device, to avoid injury or damage.
5. In certain cases, such as certain medical conditions, the user of the electric wheelchair will
need practice in its use in the presence of a qualified assistant, who may be a relative or
a professional qualified to assist the user, in use of the electric wheelchair during various
everyday activities.
6. Avoid lifting or moving the electric wheelchair by gripping one of its removable parts,
including the armrests, seat or fairing. This could cause personal injury and/or damage the
wheelchair.
7. Avoid using the electric wheelchair beyond its limits, as described in this manual.
8. Do not sit on the electric wheelchair when it is inside a moving vehicle.
9. Keep your hands away from the wheels (tyres) while driving the electric wheelchair.
Please remember that loose clothing could get caught in the wheels.
10. Consult your doctor if you are taking drugs or if you have specific physical limitations.
Certain drugs and certain limitations could affect the ability to use the electric wheelchair
safely.
11. Always check that the wheel locking/unlocking lever is locked or unlocked.
12. Do not remove the roll-over protection wheels if they are present on the electric wheelchair.
13. Contact with tools could cause an electric shock; do not connect an electrical extension
cord to the AC / DC converter or to the battery charger.
14. Although the electric wheelchair is designed for slopes with a gradient up to 6°/12%, try to
avoid slopes with a gradient over 6° (12%) and take extreme care when turning on a slope.
15. Do not drive on a slope over the limit of the electric wheelchair.
16. Avoid reversing off steps, pavements or other obstacles. This could cause the electric
wheelchair to fall or tip over.
17. Always reduce speed and maintain a stable centre of gravity on sharp bends. Do not use
the maximum power on sharp bends.
18. Using the electric wheelchair in the rain, snow or foggy conditions and on icy or slippery
surfaces could damage the electrical wiring.
19. Never sit in the electric wheelchair when it is being used with any type of lift or lifting
device. The electric wheelchair is not designed for this use. The manufacturer is not liable
for any damage or injury caused by improper use.
