TO REMOVE THE BIT
Do not touch the trimmer bits immediately after use. They
can get very hot.
1.
Repeat Steps 1 through 3 under "TO INSTALL BIT".
2.
Place one wrench on the flats of the shaft directly above the collet nut (J) Fig.
1. Let the far end of the wrench rest on the bench to your LEFT.
3.
Place the other wrench on the collet nut. Turn it counter-clockwise only
enough to allow for the removal of the bit.
To prevent damage to the collet, do not tighten the collet
without a bit inserted.
ADJUSTING BIT EXPOSURE
Disconnect the tool from the power source!
1.
With the power unit removed from the base unit, turn the depth-adjusting
ring to approximately six threads from the top of the motor unit.
2.
Insert the motor unit into the base unit. Align one of the grooves in the motor
housing with the pin protruding from the inner wall of the base. Continue until
the ring-springs snap into the groove in the depth-adjusting ring.
3.
Turn the depth-adjusting ring clockwise (when you view it from the top) to
decrease the depth of cut, or counter-clockwise to increase the depth of cut.
NOTE: For convenience in making slight adjustments, a marker can be found on
the base next to the ring spring. The depth adjusting ring is graduated with eight
equally spaced lines each representing 1/64" change in depth of cut, (when
rotated in relation to the marker). One complete turn of the ring changes the
depth of cut 1/8".
4.
Use finger pressure only to tighten the clamping knob.
5.
Make a practice cut on a piece of scrap material (see "USING A LAMINATE
TRIMMER").
USING A LAMINATE TRIMMER
Disconnect the tool from the power source!
Always wear ansi Z87.1 safety glasses while operating a
laminate trimmer.
1.
Allow your workpiece to overhang the base material by a least 1/8".
2.
Firmly grasp the motor housing, being sure that the switch is in the "OFF"
position.
3.
Ensure that the bit is clear of foreign objects and that the cord will not "hang
up" on any obstructions.
4.
Hold the workpiece firmly in place. Use clamps when necessary.
5.
Plug in the power supply cord. Be alert to resist the starting torque of the
motor. Turn the motor "ON".
6.
Allow the motor to reach "full speed". Place the base of the trimmer on
surface of the workpiece. Feed the trimmer into workpiece until bit pilot
contacts the base material. When guiding on a previously laminated surface,
always wax or lubricate the area where the guide will ride.
7.
Feed from left to right with smooth steady motion.
8.
When the operation is complete, turn the switch "OFF". Allow the motor to
come to a complete stop before laying trimmer down.
