Installation and Maintenance Rules for:
Bladed level gauges PFG-09
PFG-09 - PFG-09/F - PFG-09/Z - PFG-09/Z/F - PFG-09/Z/AT/F - PFG-09/../L
STANDARD FEATURES
The PFG-09 level gauge is made in compliance with the regulations in force in the European Union and specifically with:
- Die-cast aluminium casing UNI 5076. IP65 protection.
- Stainless steel shaft on ball bearings, watertight with permanent lubrication, with neoprene Corteco ring for dust sealing.
- Standard stainless steel screw, on request in versions with 1, 2, 3 or 4 blades.
- Electrical construction in compliance with Directives 2014/35/EU (low-voltage electrical material) and 2014/30/EU (electromagnetic compatibility).
- Noise level measured in open field: zero.
- Use contact capacity: 5 A / 250 VAC.
SAFETY RULES
All the appropriate safety precautions must be taken when electrically operated equipment is used, in order to reduce the risk of fire outbreaks,
electric shock and injuries to persons.
Keep the work zone clean and orderly. Accidents are more likely to occur in untidy areas and environments.
-
Before beginning work, make sure that the level gauge is in a perfect condition. Damaged or broken parts must be repaired or replaced by competent
-
personnel authorized by the Manufacturer.
All verifications, inspections, cleaning and maintenance operations, part changes and replacements, must be carried out with the level gauge
-
disconnected and the plug removed from the power socket.
It is absolutely forbidden for children, unauthorized and/or inexperienced persons to touch or use the level gauge.
-
Make sure that the electricity system complies with the laws in force. Make sure that the earthing is efficiently connected when the instrument is installed.
-
Make sure that the power socket is suitable, that it complies with the laws in force and that it has a built-in automatic
protection circuit-breaker. The level gauge must never be stopped by detaching the plug; moreover, never use the cable to
pull the plug from the socket.
Periodically check to be sure that the cable is in perfect conditions and replace it if damaged. This operation must only be
-
carried out by competent and authorized persons. Only use extension cables of the permitted type and marked.
Do not allow children or unauthorized persons to touch the cable when the instrument is plugged in.
-
The models with signal lamp must be protected from direct exposure to sunlight.
-
INSTALLATION
Before installation, inspect the outer structure of the level gauge. Check the movement of the propeller shaft and the
operation of the clutch assembly. If this check reveals anything irregular, the level gauge must be sent to CAMLogic to be
restored to efficiency. CAMLogic level gauges can be installed in any position. With the shaft in a horizontal or sloping
position, the level gauge must be mounted with the cable passages as shown (Pic. 1).
The level gauge is mounted on chambers or silos, on the side or top. It is important to choose the position so that the device is
not hit by the falling load, likewise taking care that the material can move freely all around the gauge.
Protective deflectors (Pic. 2) are advisable when there is considerable weight weighing on the shaft or when materil that flows
badly is likely to move in a block. The level gauge can be mounted on the silos by the standard connection with threaded
sleeve (1" 1/2 Gas) to be welded onto the silos (PFG-09 or PFG-09/Z) or by flange connection with 6MA screws (PFG-09/F,
PFG-09/Z/F and PFG-09/Z/AT/F). These two methods involve no modifications to the level gauge.
ELECTRICAL WIRING
The conductors forming the power supply and signal carrying cable must have an adequate cross-section so that the current
density, in each conductor, is no higher than 4 A/mm . One of these is used only for the earthing of the level gauge. The cross-
section of the conductors must also be adequate in relation to the length of the cable used to a void a drop in voltage along
the cable over the values prescribed by the regulations on the subject. It is likewise recommended to use flexible cables with
an adequate outside diameter for the cable entries used (not supplied) to ensure a perfect seal of the cable clamp on the
power supply and signal carrying cable.
Use exclusively cable entries certified according to directive 2014/34/EU, Category 2 and EN 60079-31.
CAUTION:
In the terminal board compartment, the connection for Faston type cable terminal whose position is
marked by the symbol
conductor (only green for the USA) of the power cable must be connected to this terminal.
The ground connection of the level gauge, through the yellow-green conductor, is compulsory.
On the external level gauge casing side, placed side by side to the cable inlet (Fig. 4), a second connection point is present
for the external ground connection executable with a screw M5 and an eyelet cable terminal.
- The external earthing has to be carried out by the installator.
- The equipment has to be protected against impact and electrostatic inside the silo.
- The user has to protect the equipment circuits with fuses against short circuit.
- The maximum surface temperature is determined taking into account a safety margin, but without considering a
possible dust deposit on the equipment.
Inside the cover there is the wiring plate (Pic. 5) which has printed on it the wiring diagram for the power supply and use of the
level gauge. Always check that the mains voltage and frequency correspond to those given on the plate of the level gauge
before powering up. For electric connections to the terminal, use Faston type cable terminals (6.3 x 0.8 mm).
MAINTENANCE
CAMLogic level gauges need no routine maintenance. Possible extraordinary maintenance is restricted to replacing parts
that are deteriorated by use. The gauge must not be lubricated, the shaft, the only moving part is mounted on ball bearings
with permanent lubrication.
Recommended spare parts:
Geared motor - Return spring - Ball bearings - Neoprene seal rings (Corteco) - Printed circuit complete with limit switch and terminals (Faston)
- Envisaged power supplies: 110/220 or 24/48 VAC 50/60 Hz - 24 VDC.
- Motor absorption: 4W.

- Output speed (propeller shaft): ~1.5 rpm.
