Slope Operation
Slopes are a major factor related to slip-and-fall accidents, which can result in
severe injury. Operation on slopes requires extra caution. If you feel uneasy on
a slope, do not mow it.
Do:
•
Mow across the face of slopes; never mow up and down. Exercise
extreme caution when changing direction on slopes.
Watch for holes, roots, rocks, hidden objects, or bumps which can cause
•
you to slip or trip. Tall grass can hide obstacles. Remove all obstacles
such as rocks and tree limbs.
Make sure that your footing is stable. If you are out of balance, release the
•
switch immediately.
Do not:
Mow near drop-offs, ditches or embankments; you could lose your footing
•
or balance.
•
Mow slopes greater than 15 degrees.
•
Mow on wet grass. Unstable footing could cause slipping.
If you are not comfortable, do not mow on a slope.
In case of self-propelled mowers, please keep a low self-propelled
speed when you mow on a slope.
