1. NO WATER DELIVERED
Cause: Pump not properly primed.
Discharge system head too great; check pump discharge with pressure gauge for shut-off pressure.
Suction lift too great; check with vacuum gauge.
Check valve or foot valve may be plugged or stuck in closed position; suction piping may be plugged.
Air leak in suction piping.
Shaft seal leak under priming conditions.
Motor not up to speed; check voltage.
Plugged impeller.
Frozen pipes.
Water level below suction of foot valve.
2. NOT ENOUGH WATER OR PRESSURE
Cause: Air leak in suction piping.
Motor not up to speed, check voltage.
Discharge system head too great.
Impeller, suction pipe, check or foot valve partially plugged.
Suction lift too great.
Water level in well is too low. Check pumping water level. Suction pipe inlet should be at least fi ve feet
below water level.
Suction piping too small.
Air or gas in water source.
3. PUMP LOSES PRIME AFTER STARTING
Cause: Air leak in suction piping.
Suction lift too great.
Water level in well is too low. Check pumping water level.
4. MOTOR OVERHEATS
Cause: Motor not wired correctly.
Low voltage at motor. Check electrical connections for adequate contact.
Poor ventilation.
Movement of rotating element or impeller may be impeded.
5. PUMP VIBRATES OR IS NOISY
Cause: Insuffi cient pump foundation.
Bent shaft or worn motor bearings.
Partially clogged impeller.
Total suction lift too great.
6. MOTOR WILL NOT RUN
Cause: Blown fuse.
Defective starting switch.
Wiring at motor loose, disconnected, or incorrect wiring.
No power supply.
