Installation Instructions
The "Berlin" Method is based on the use of the sump as a platform for a larger and more effi cient
protein skimmer and the lack of any additional biological fi ltration other than that provided by the
live rock in the aquarium.
1. Unpack sump from protective cardboard wrapper.
2. Remove inlet fi ttings from inside fi lter sock.
3. Slide male pipe thread adapter on top of drain pipe positioned within bubble chamber.
4. Slide male pipe thread adapter up through drain hole(s) in lid of fi lter and screw female pipe
thread elbow onto adapter. Gasket should be on the top side of the fi lter lid.
5. Remove the three retaining screws located at the bottom of chamber 2 that hold the water
diverter wall in place and remove the water diverter wall.
6. Slide adjustable wall down to the bottom of chamber 1.
7. Install skimmer into chamber 2.
