High Flow Nasal Cannula
Instructions for use - e
Intended Use
The High Flow Nasal Cannula is an interface
intended for patients for whom high flow
oxygen therapy with humidified gas has been
prescribed. It is for single patient use in a
hospital/institutional environment.
Cautions
• U.S. Federal law restricts this device to sale by or on the order of
a physician.
• Before connecting the nasal cannula, check for adequate gas
flow, oxygen, temperature and humidity.
• Ensure the nasal cannula is sized correctly and does not seal
off the nares. Use the sizing gauge on the packaging for proper
fitting.
Note: This interface is not made with natural rubber latex, BPA or
DEHP.
Contraindications
This interface is not for use on patients who are dependent on
mechanical ventilation for their life support.
Warnings
• Do not overtighten the headgear straps. Watch for signs of
overtightening, such as excessive redness, sores or bulging skin
around the edges of the cannula. Loosen the headgear straps to
alleviate these problems.
• Monitor or intervene if the patient experiences skin redness,
irritation, discomfort, blurred vision or drying of the eyes.
