Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the device. This fixture is not designed to be used
by people (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capacities, or by people lacking expe-
rience or knowledge, unless they are supervised by someone who is responsible for their safety, or are provided
with instructions concerning its use.
This device is designed to prevent the risk of fire by detecting white smoke emitted by the combustion of wood,
paper, plastic, cigarettes, etc. in your home or any other environment (workplace, for example). Its purpose is to act
as a warning device, which allows occupants to react immediately.
However, the device can only provide a timely warning if the detector is installed and maintained as described in
this user guide.
This is a "photoelectric" type smoke detector. It reacts to smoke microparticles in the air.
• If your home only has one floor, for minimum protection you need to install at least one detector in the passage in
the centre of the "bedroom-living room" area to ensure that the alarm can be heard by occupants in the bedrooms.
(see Figure 1).
• If your home has several floors, for minimum protection, it is recommended to install 3 detectors (1 per floor + 1 in
the basement, and possibly one in the living room or in a bedroom). This example includes the basement but excludes
the attic. (see Figure 2).
Note: for optimal protection, a detector must be installed in every room (except in the kitchen, bathroom and
laundry room).
