transparent lid, so that the writing is the correct way up when the lid is
in position. The white fi eld inside should remain clearly visible.
2. Remove the transparent lid from the bottom part and put in 35 drops
of indicator liquid.
3. Invert the black lower section of the appliance and put onto the
transparent lid so that the white panel and suction pads face the fl at,
framed side of the transparent lid.
4. Carefully and slowly turn the appliance over so that the black section
is pointing vertically downwards. Take care that no liquid leaks from
the slit behind the white panel.
5. With the appliance upright and the black section at the bottom, attach
to a pane of the aquarium in a clearly visible position so that an air
pocket remains under the black lower section. The distance between
the appliance and the surface of the water should be approx. 10 cm.
6. If you have decided to use the larger format of the colour scale, attach
this to the outside of the aquarium pane near the appliance.

indicator colour in the appliance directly with the colour on the scale.
Use as pH permanent test:
The current pH level of the aquarium, caused by the interaction of CO
and carbonate hardness, can be directly read and monitored using the
enclosed pH colour scale. However, this only applies if there are no other
substances dissolved in the water which infl uence the pH other than CO
and carbonate hardness.
High nitrate levels, the use of liquid or powder substances to reduce or
increase the pH level, or fi ltering through peat etc. cause shifts in the pH
level which cannot be identifi ed using the permanent test. It is therefore
advisable to check the pH level of your aquarium from time to time using
a JBL pH Test Set.
