Connect the protective grounding
The connection of the reference potential surface with the protective bonding circuit is normally in the control cabinet close
to the power feed-in. This grounding safely conducts fault currents to ground and thus ensures the safety of the electrical
system. According to DIN/VDE 0100, it protects persons, animals, and property from excessive touch voltages.
WARNING
No protective grounding for devices with 100 to 240 V AC / 110 to 250 V DC power supply
Risk of electric shock
When connecting to the power supply, observe the following:
•
IEC plug
Ensure that the socket outlet used has a protective conductor connection that matches the power plug used.
•
Connection terminals (S-coded M12 plug)
Connect the terminals according to the terminal assignment diagram. Connect the protective grounding first.
Connecting and disconnecting the S-coded M12 plug may only be performed by an electrical specialist.
Power supply cables may only be connected or disconnected in the de-energized state.
WARNING
Connect the second protective conductor
Due to the possible leakage currents, it is imperative that you connect a second protective conductor permanently to the
device. The work must be performed by a specialist according to IEC 62368-1.
Requirements for protective grounding
To wire a permanently connected protective grounding, use copper cables with a cross-section of ≥ 2.5 mm
mechanically protected. If the cables are not mechanically protected, use cables with a cross-section of 4.0 mm
The grounding connection of the SCALANCE PSP9230PoE is used for connecting the protective grounding and the functional
grounding of the device.
Position of the protective grounding
In the lower part of the housing front, a threaded hole M4 is provided for the connection of the protective conductor.

Connecting the protective grounding
To connect the protective grounding, proceed as follows:
1. Put the contact washer ①, the ground terminal ② and the combi screw ③ together as shown in the drawing.
2. Screw in the combi screw ③ with a maximum torque of 1.5 Nm.
