9. Channels.

Contact™ is equipped with 100 channels and frequencies between 433-434 MHz. All
100 channels are programmed into the receiver and can easily be chosen as desired
(see: 2. Turning on the receiver and setting the channel). If you hunt with more than
one dog at a time it is advantageous to have a transmitter on each dog with different
channels so that you can track each dog separately.
If more than one Contact™ receiver is available, then each can be programmed to the
same channel so that simultaneous tracking can be done from different positions on
the same transmitter. You can then mark the different tracking directions on a map to
attain a very reliable location of your dog (this is called 'cross-tracking', see: 13.

Judging distance).

10. Volume adjustment and earphone.

The base volume can be adjusted as desired, which is especially useful if you have
reduced or impaired hearing. Underneath the battery cover on the receiver there is an
adjustment screw placed in front of the batteries. Please note that the adjustment screw
is very sensitive and should be adjusted with care! The screw can be turned a maxi-
mum of 4/5 of a turn, and turning it clockwise raises the volume while counter clock-
wise rotation lowers it. FIGURE 4.
An earphone or active hearing aid can be connected to the receiver. The plug-in is
located on the back panel of the receiver. With an earphone connected the transmitter
signal can be heard much clearer, which can also be beneficial when tracking at longer
distances. The loudspeaker is automatically disconnected when an earphone is plugged in.

11. Battery indication and replacement.

Receiver:
When the batteries are low in the receiver the lower green diode on the display goes
out. Replace the batteries as soon as possible. Removing the locking screw using a
coin opens the battery cover on the underside of the receiver. The proper placement of
batteries is shown on the inside of the battery cover. Battery type: LR6/AA 1.5 V
Alkaline. Quantity: 2.
Transmitter:
When the batteries are low in the transmitter 3 quick signals are emitted every 10
seconds (See: 8. Signal diagram). Replace the batteries as soon as possible. If the
transmitter continues to be used after a low battery warning is given, then the trans-
mitter shifts to a slower tracking signal (to save power) regardless of the dog's activity.
