Kongskilde Separator type STS
A straight pipe must always be mounted on the inlet
side of the separator. The length of the straight pipe
must be at least 5 x the diameter of the pipe. A bend
must not be mounted just before the separator, as
this will result in a wrong distribution of the material
in the separator and thereby reduce the capacity.
When mounting the separator, the upper side must
be horizontal.
If an air outlet pipe is mounted on the outlet side of
the separator, it normally requires that a blower is
mounted to suck the air from the separator in order
to prevent excess pressure in the separator.
Adjustment of the Separator for Optimum
Capacity
In order to obtain optimum capacity the separator must be
adjusted according to the actual operational conditions.
Adjustment of the Counterweight (A)
The counterweight (A) ensures that the flap (B) auto-
matically is adjusted to give a continuous material flow
through the separator, and the air is separated efficiently
through the filter plate; i.e. the flap should be more open,
when the material flow rises, and more closed when the
material flow declines.
Starting Position of the Counterweight (A): From the
beginning the counterweight (A) should be in the inner-
most position. If this results in the material being rotated
inside the separator instead of being discharged conti-
nuously, the counterweight is pushed outwards, until the
material is discharged continuously from the separator
with optimum capacity.
Please note that if the counterweight (A) is pushed too far
out, the flap can be closed too much, which might prevent
the material flow through the separator from being
discharged continuously, or in worst case it might be
blocked.
Adjustment of the Stopping Device (C):
The stopping device (C) prevents the flap (B) from being
completely closed, when the material flow declines, as
this might result in the material flow through the separator
not being discharged continuously.
Starting Position of the Stopping Device (C): Adjust
the stopping device (C), so that the flap is always at least
5 cm (5 in.) open. If this does not give a sufficient opening
to ensure that the material flow is discharged conti-
nuously, the stopping device is moved upwards, until the
flow is continuous.
