individually adapted sleeves (otoplastics) from a hear-
ing aid acoustician may be used.
Insert the earphones for the left ear marked "L" (28)
and for the right ear marked "R" (29) into your ears and
lead the cable over your outer ear to the back of your
head. This will ensure a tighter fit than leading the
cable directly downwards.
5.4 Adjusting the volume and the balance
Switch on the receiver by turning the volume control
(18) from the left stop. The current adjustments will be
indicated on the display (23). If the display remains
blank or if the symbol
(c), the batteries are exhausted and must be replaced
(→ chapter 4.3). Adjust the desired volume with the
volume control (18).
CAUTION
Never adjust a very high volume. Per-
manent high volumes may damage
your hearing! The human ear will get
accustomed to high volumes which do
not seem to be that high after some
time. Therefore, do not further increase
a high volume after getting used to it.
If there is no sound, check
– if the transmitter is switched on (→ chapter 5.1)
– if an audio signal reaches the transmitter (→ chap-
ter 5.2)
– if the reception indication (a) indicates reception of a
wireless signal (one or more vertical lines next to the
antenna symbol)
– if the distance to the transmitter is too long or if there
are any obstacles in the transmission path which
may prevent a reception of the wireless signal
– if the transmitter and the receiver are adjusted to the
same frequency
To protect your ears from sudden signal peaks, it is
recommended to switch on the limiter (→ chap-
ter 5.5.3).
The balance control (19) has two different func-
tions: When the receiver operates in the stereo mode
[the display will indicate "STEREO" (d)], the volume
ratio between the left and right earphones is adjusted
with the balance control. When the receiver is set to
mono operation, [the display will indicate "MONO" (d)]
and two independent mono signals are sent as stereo,
it will be possible to adjust the mixing ratio of these sig-
nals with the balance control. The mixed signal will be
fed identically to both earphones.
5.5 Further optional features of the receiver
Via the menu, further adjustments can be made on the
receiver. Proceed as follows:
1) Press the button SET (26). The menu will be indi-
cated with the first menu item "Frequency" select-
ed.
is indicated in the position
2) With the button + (21) or - (22), select the desired
menu item and confirm with the button SET. The
corresponding submenu will be indicated.
3) With the button + or -, make the desired change
and confirm with the button SET. The adjusting pos-
sibilities will be explained in the chapters below.
4) If an adjustment was changed, "Saving..." will
shortly be displayed; if the adjustment remains
unchanged, "Cancel" will shortly appear instead.
The menu will be indicated again.
5) To exit the menu, select the menu item "Exit" and
confirm with SET.
5.5.1 Menu item "Stereo/Mono"
With the button + (21), select the stereo mode or the
mono mode with the button - (22).
In the stereo mode, each of the two signals will only
be fed to the corresponding earphone. The volume
ratio between the two earphones is adjustable with the
balance control (19).
In the mono mode, the two signals will be mixed to
one mono signal and then fed identically to both ear-
phones. The balance control will define the mixing
ratio. The mono mode is also recommended when
only one stereo channel is received and this signal is
to be fed to both ears. (This is the case if only one
mono signal is available and the transmitter is set to
stereo mode.)
5.5.2 Menu item "Hi Freq. Boost"
With this function, the higher frequencies will be boost-
ed. It can be activated (ON) with the button + (21) or
deactivated (OFF) with the button - (22). With the
function switched on, "HF" (f) will be indicated on the
display.
5.5.3 Menu item "Limiter"
The integrated limiter serves for limiting the signal
level for the earphones connected to the receiver.
When the level exceeds a maximum value depending
on the adjustment of the volume control (18), it will be
reduced to this value by the limiter. This will protect
your hearing from signal peaks suddenly occurring
and will allow a higher monitoring volume for low and
average signal levels. It is therefore recommended to
activate (ON) the limiter with the button + (21). On the
display, activation of the limiter will be indicated by
"LIM" (g). If, on the other hand, the dynamic efficiency
of the music signal is to be maintained, deactivate
(OFF) the limiter with the button - (22).
Note: It is the function of the limiter to protect your
ears from temporary signal peaks. It will not be able to
prevent any damage to your hearing if it is subjected to
an excessive volume for a longer period.
5.5.4 Menu item "Key lock"
This function will make it more difficult to change
adjustments unintentionally. With the key lock function
activated, the main menu cannot be called.
