IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety
precautions should always be followed, including
the following:
• Read all instructions carefully.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to
persons do not immerse cord, plugs or appliance in
water or other liquid.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities or lack of experience and
knowledge unless they have been given initial
supervision or instruction concerning the use of the
appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
• Close supervision is necessary when any appliance
is used by or near children.
• Unplug from outlet when not in use and before
cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off
parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
• Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord
or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or has
been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to
the nearest authorized service facility for examination
repair or adjustment.
• The use of accessory attachments not recommended
by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire,
electric shock or personal injury to persons.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Read these instructions carefully before using your
Nespresso machine.
• Do not plug the machine into anything other than a
grounded electrical socket.
• Do not place your nespresso machine on a hot
surface (electrical heating plate for example) or near
a flame.
• Do not use the machine without the drip tray and drip
grid in place.
• Remove the plug when cleaning your machine.
• ensure that the electrical cord does not come into
contact with sharp or hot objects. Do not disconnect
the electrical plug by pulling on the cord.
• Avoid touching the electricaI cord and the steam
nozzle.
• Never plunge the machine in water.
• Keep the machine and the electrical cord out of
children's reach.
• Descaling:
• 1. Preparation: please read carefully the safety
instructions on the descaling agent packaging
and follow the descaling instructions from the
manual.
• 2. Descaling: do not use the machine for any other
purpose during the descaling process.
• 3. Rinse: rinse the water tanks and clean the
machine to avoid any residual descaling solution.
• Replace the milk in the milk container with fresh milk
every hour.
• The hot water tube and the streams of hot water,
steam, coffee and hot milk are very hot. Avoid direct
contact with the skin. Danger of burning/scalding!
• Be careful while removing the cappuccino-caffelatte
device from steam outlet. Hot milk might drip.

SPECIAL CORD SET INSTRUCTIONS
Regarding your Cord Set:
A) Always use the specific power supply cord
delivered with the machine.
B) A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-
supply cord) is provided to reduce risks that may
result from longer tangled cords.
C) Longer detachable power-supply cords or
extension cords are available and may be used if
care is exercised in their use.
D) If a long detachable power-supply cord or
extension cord is used
(1) the marked electrical rating of the detachable
power-supply cord or extension cord should be
at least as great as the electrical rating of the
appliance,
(2) the detachable power-supply cord or extension
cord must be a 3-wire cord if the appliance is
of the grounded type 3-wire cord,
(3) the longer cord should be arranged so that it
will not drape over the counter top or table top
where it can be pulled on by children or tripped
over.
DIRECT WATER CONNECTION INSTRUCTIONS
• Any damages related to the connection of the
machine directly to the water mains supply are
not covered by warranty if the connection is not
performed by a certified technician.
• The "direct water connection" switch must always
be set to OFF when no direct water mains supply is
used.
• If the machine is connected directly to the direct
water mains supply, always turn the machine OFF
and set the "direct water connection" switch to OFF
before removing one or both watertanks.
• To avoid any risk of flooding, in case the flow rate
increases more than 16.9 oz/min 0.5 L/min, an
automatic water flow-stop system should be installed
by a specialist (not provided with the machine).
• If no responsible person is present (e.g. at night,
weekends, vacations etc.), the connection to the
water mains supply must be closed.
