The Biemmedue dehumidifiers
are stand-alone equipment, which
do not require any installation,
apart from plugging into the
mains. The dehumidifier consists
of a closed circuit containing an
environmentally friendly refrigerant.
The main elements are:
compressor (n°2 - Fig. 1): this
determines the circulation of the
refrigerant,
condenser (n°3 - Fig. 1): in this
part, which is physically similar to
a car radiator, the gaseous state
fluid, driven by the compressor is
transformed into liquid and releases
its heat; the heat generated heats
the condenser itself,
coiled tube (n°5 - Fig. 1): in
this element the fluid, which
has become liquid, expands and
reduces its own pressure,
evaporator (n°6 - Fig. 1): in this
element, which too consists of a
group similar to a car radiator, the
liquid is transformed into gas by
subtracting heat and consequently
cooling the evaporator.
The refrigerant which has returned

to the gaseous state continues its
route through the compressor and
the cycle starts again.
The air for dehumidification is
drawn through the dehumidifier by
a fan (n°1 - Fig. 1) crossing first
the evaporator (cold) and then the
condenser (hot).
The working cycle is thus the
following:
The air passes on the surface
of the evaporator, where it cools
depositing the excess moisture,
which is transformed into drops of
water that fall into the tank.
Then, the air passes through the
condenser, where it regains several
degrees in temperature and is
recycled into the environment as a
drier warmer air, thus contributing,
in the mix that is determined over
time, to lower the moisture level
of the premises, until the desired
values are reached.
When the room temperature is
under certain values (15°/18°C),
the temperature of the surfaces
of the evaporator drops in turn
thus causing the formation of ice

which limits the passage of air,
and compromising the correct
functioning of the system.
To avoid this possible problem, with
the exception of model DR80, there
is an automatic defrost function,
which consists of the possibility of
heating the evaporator when the
sensor records temperatures which
are too low.
In this case through a by-pass
valve (n°4), the compressor
sends the gas directly into the
evaporator, without passing from
the condenser, thus determining
an increase in temperature.
The by-pass circuit closes
automatically when the sensor
reveals a higher temperature and
the dehumidification cycle returns
to normal. It should be pointed
out that the defrosting system
guarantees that the dehumidifier
returns to perfect efficiency after
a few seconds; moreover, it is the
only defrosting system that allows
the full efficiency of the dehumidifier
even with very low air temperatures
(under 8/10 °C).
