CLEANING & CARING FOR YOUR APPLIANCE
Cleaning the appliance
Disconnect power before any cleaning of the appliance.
Wipe the inside of the unit with a weak solution of baking soda (bicarbonate) or mild
detergent. Then rinse with warm water (never hot or boiling) using a damp sponge or
cloth.
The glass shelves, crisper covers, and door trays may be carefully removed for cleaning.
To remove a glass shelf, pull it forward on the guide rails, carefully. Then, lift it
slightly to remove it. To reinsert a glass shelf, gently push it back in position on
the guide rails.
Lift the door tray vertically to remove it.
Wash trays and shelves with warm soapy water. Dry them completely before
putting them back in the unit.
Clean the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth.
For best performance, carefully clean the door gasket/seal as well.
Do not splash water on the outside or inside of the unit when cleaning it. The appliance should be cleaned often
enough to prevent any significant buildup of debris. Be careful not to scratch the unit if wearing rings or bracelets.
Clean the drain hole at the back of the cooling compartment periodically. Otherwise, defrost water can get into
the cooling compartment. This can cause water to accumulate on the floor. Use a suitable device such as a pipe
cleaner.
Defrosting the refrigerator (cooling compartment)
The cooling compartment is defrosted automatically.
Manually Defrosting the freezer (optional):
The freezer compartment is defrosted automatically. If an abnormally thick layer of encrusted ice has built up, howev-
er, it can be manually defrosted as follows:
1. Remove all food from both the fridge and the freezer. The food should be placed in another refrigerator or cool-
ing box. Do not allow food to spoil.
Unplug the unit from the wall socket.
2.
3. Place a towel or two under the refrigerator and in the freezer compartments to collect the water from the melting
frost. Placing a container in front of the appliance to catch additional water may be necessary, depending on the
amount of ice that has built up.
4. Do NOT use hot water to accelerate the defrosting process.
5. Clean and wipe out the interior of the unit using the instructions in the "cleaning" section of this guide.
6. Remove the big pieces of ice first. Do not use any metal tools or abrasive cleaners to remove the frost as this can
damage the unit. A plastic scraper is ok.
7. Wipe and dry the appliance and its door seals with dry, soft cloths.
8. Leave the door open to ventilate the appliance until all of the frost is melted.
Usually, several hours (or overnight) will suffice.
9. Reconnect the power when cleaning is complete. Close the door and allow the unit to cool again for 3 to 4 hours
before putting food in.
Note: Your preferred temperatures will need to be set again after the appliance is plugged back in.
