PARTS
1. 360° rotational power base with cord storage
2. Spout
3. Lid
4. Lid release button
5. Illuminated on/off switch
6. Water level gauge
BEFORE FIRST USE
Remove any packaging and promotional material from
your kettle and position it on a stable, secure, dry and
level work surface away from the edge.
Before connecting to a power source, make sure your
mains supply voltage is the same as the one indicated on
the appliance. Connect the plug to a suitable power outlet
and make sure that the power cord does not overhang
the work surface. Excess power cord can be stored in the
power base.
Remove the kettle from the power base. Fill it to the
maximum mark.
Place the kettle back onto the power base. Switch the
kettle on, allow it to boil then discard the water. Repeat
twice. This will remove any residue left over from the
manufacturing process.
USING YOUR KETTLE
1. Remove the kettle from the power base and fill it with
water either through the spout or through the opened
lid. Don't overfill the kettle and always ensure that
there is sufficient water in the kettle (approx. 250ml)
for it to operate correctly (figure 1).
2. Check the level with the kettle on its power base
(figure 2).
3. If removed, refit the lid and then switch the kettle on
by moving the switch to the down position. Make sure
that the lid is closed correctly to ensure safe operation
(figure 3).
4. When the water reaches boiling point, the kettle will
switch off automatically (figure 4).
5. You may also switch the kettle off manually at any
time by moving the switch to the up position (figure 5).
Always use caution when carrying the kettle when it is full
of boiling water and when pouring it.
IF THE KETTLE BOILS DRY
If your kettle is operated with insufficient water a built
in safety device will automatically switch it back off
preventing damage. If this should happen:
• Unplug your kettle and allow it to cool. When your
kettle has cooled down sufficiently the safety device
will reset itself.
• Once the safety device has reset, refill your kettle with
cold water and use it as normal.
CLEANING
1. Unplug the kettle from the mains supply socket and
allow it to completely cool down before cleaning or
descaling it.
2. Clean the exterior surface of the kettle with a damp
cloth and then polish with a soft dry cloth. Do not use
steel wool pads or harsh/abrasive cleaners.
3. Descale your kettle regularly to keep it working
efficiently. Use a descaling product following the
manufacturer's instructions carefully.
CLEANING THE FILTER
• Unplug the kettle from the mains supply socket and
allow it to completely cool down.
• Open the lid and remove the filter from behind the
spout (figure 6).
• Rinse the filter under a tap whilst brushing it with a
soft brush (figure 7).
• In hard water areas it may be necessary to descale
the filter using a descaling agent. Use a descaling
product following the manufacturer's instructions
carefully.
• The filter may be washed safely in a dishwasher.
• Refit the filter back into the kettle.
LIGHTING SEQUENCE
Kettle
Kettle plugged
No illumination unless the
in, kettle on/
temperature of the water is above
off switch OFF,
80ºC
before boiling
Kettle plugged
The water chamber illuminates
in, kettle on/off
and changes from blue (assuming
switch ON
that the water is cool) to red to
indicate the progress of the boiling
cycle. The redder the illumination,
the closer the water is to boiling.
Kettle plugged
The water chamber illuminates
in, kettle on/off
red while the temperature of the
switch OFF, after
water is above 80ºC. Below 80ºC,
boiling
the illumination switches off.
After boiling, the illumination of your kettle will remain
red indicating that the water is still hot enough to make
a hot beverage such as tea or instant coffee. The 'still
hot' illumination is active when the water temperature
is above 80ºC. When the temperature of the water falls
below 80ºC, the illumination will switch off.
