WARNING:
To prevent serious injury, never perform
maintenance on the unit while it is running. Always turn the
unit off and allow it to cool. Prevent the unit from starting
accidentally: For gas-powered units, disconnect the spark
plug wire. For electric-powered units, disconnect the unit
from the power source. For battery-powered units, remove
the battery.
NOTE: Some maintenance procedures may require special tools or
skills. If you are unsure about these procedures, take the unit to
a qualified service dealer.
TINE REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
WARNING:
To prevent serious personal injury, always
wear heavy gloves when handling the tines.
All tines should be replaced at the same time, as they will wear
evenly through normal use.
Removing the Tines
1. Make sure the unit is off.
2. Tip the unit back so that it rests upon the shaft grip.
NOTE: To aid the removal process, it may be necessary to wash dirt
off the tines and tine shaft.
3. Remove the click pins from each end of the tine shaft. Slide the
tines off the tine shaft (Fig. 5).
4. Clean and oil the tine shaft.
Installing the New Tines
1. Slide two tines onto one side of the tine shaft. Make sure the
hubs face each other and the convex sides of the tines all face
the direction shown in Figure 5.
2. Insert a click pin through the hole at the end of the tine shaft
(Fig. 5). Push the click pin ring toward the tine until it clicks into
place.
3. Repeat this process for the opposite side.
