Absolute time (A. TIME)
Signal Recording
A. TIME, or "absolute time," is the elapsed
time from the beginning of the tape. In all
recording operations, this time signal is
automatically recorded on one portion of
the tape. This feature enables easy and
accurate location of a position.
Mute recorded portions EY
On analog
cassettes,
tape search
operates by detecting blank (or very low
level) sections of 4 seconds or more. On
DAT, however,
subcode signals are
continuously recorded (along with the
music signals) to enable search operation.
Even during the quiet passages between
songs, these signals are recorded.
Non-recorded (blank) portions EJ
These are portions of the tape which have
notbeen recorded yet, and therefore have
no A. TIME or subcode signals. As such,
search operations cannot be performed.
Avoiding blank portions
To ensure accurate A. TIME indication
and search operation, care must be taken
'0 eliminate non-recorded portions on the
ape by starting new recordings on a tape
xactly where the previous recording
inishes.

Grabacion de la sefial de
tiempo absoluto (A.TIME)

no poseen
sefiales de A.TIME
