ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR DRILLS
1) Safety instructions for all work activities
a) Wear ear protection during impact drilling. The exposure to noise can cause hearing loss.
b) Use the additional handles delivered with the device. The loss of control can result in injuries.
c)
Hold the device by the insulated gripping surfaces when performing work in which the
cutting tool may come into contact with hidden wiring or its own cord. Contact with a live
wire can also cause a charge in metal parts of the device and result in an electric shock.
d) Use suitable detectors in order to find hidden supply lines or ask the local utility
company. Contact with electrical cables can lead to electric shock and fire, contact with a gas
pipe can result in an explosion. Damage to a water pipe can lead to property damaged and
electric shock.
e) Keep hands away from rotating parts. Wait until the power tool has stopped before
placing it down. Risk of injury!
f)
Avoid contact with the tool insert or the component part immediately after processing.
The parts may be hot and cause burn injuries.
g) Immediately switch off the power tool if the tool insert is blocked due to overloading or
tilting of the component part. Be prepared for high reaction torque that can cause
kickback. The loss of control can result in injuries.
h) Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with clamping devices or in a vice is held more
secure than by hand.
i)
When working with the machine, always hold it firmly with both hands and provide for a
secure stance. The power tool is guided more secure with both hands.
2) Safety instructions when using long drills
a) Never use the machine at speeds higher than the maximum rated drill speed. At higher
speeds, the drill is likely to bend if it is allowed to rotate freely in contact with the workpiece,
which can result in personal injury.
b) At the beginning of drilling, the speed must always be low, and the tip of the drill must
touch the workpiece. At higher speeds, the drill is likely to bend if it is allowed to rotate freely
without being in contact with the workpiece, which can result in personal injury.
c)
It is only necessary to push in a straight line with the drill and must not be subjected to
excessive pressure. The drills can bend and crack or cause loss of control, which can result in
personal injury.
WARNING! This electrical equipment creates an electromagnetic field during its
operation. Such a field can interfere with active or passive implants under certain
circumstances. To reduce the risk of serious or lethal injury, we recommend that
persons with implants consult their physician or implant manufacturer and ask
whether they can use this equipment.
SETTING UP
Warning! Risk of injury! Before performing any operation unplug the power
cord from the wall socket.
Auxiliary handle (Picture A)
Always use the drill with the handle (3) attached. The handle provides additional support and safety
during use. It is suitable for both right- and left-handed people.
•
Loosen the handle collar (2) by rotating the handle counter-clockwise against the clamp holder.
•
Insert the handle collar over the chuck onto the drill neck and pivot the handle into desired
position which is best for handling. Handle can be mounted both ways to suit right- or left-
handers.
•
Tighten the handle by turning it clockwise.
