1.3. FUNCTIONS
The C.A 740N is a Voltage Detector with indicator lights.
It complies with the requirements of standard IEC 61243-3.
The main function of the C.A 740N is to test for the absence of
any voltage. It detects hazardous voltages, meaning voltages
exceeding the ELV (extra low voltage: 50 V or 120 V ),
ac dc
even if its batteries are low or missing.
Its other functions are:
„ Indication of a voltage between 12 and 690 V or 750 V ,
ac dc
with indication of the polarity.
„ Continuity indication.
„ Indication of the phase position.
The voltages indicated on the C.A 740N are nominal volt-
ages. Make sure that the device will be used on networks at
standardized voltages.
