Do not touch the hot surfaces of the appliance.
Allow the appliance to cool down completely before
you transport or clean it.
3.1 Hot surfaces
• The heating area (including the
heating plates) becomes hot during
operation, and must not be
touched until it has cooled down.
• The area from the control panel to
the mains plug can be touched dur-
ing operation. It does not get hot.
3.2 Power supply
1. Before plugging in the mains plug, check that the volt-
age of the wall socket corresponds to the specifications
on the type plate.
2. Plug the mains plug into a wall socket.

3.3 Prior to the first use
• Before using it for the first time, switch the appliance on
by pressing the on/off switch, and set it to the highest
temperature (220 °C) for a few minutes. As a result of the
manufacturing process, you may notice a slight odour.
This is normal and only occurs during first use. Ensure
that the room is well ventilated.
3.4 Appliance lock
The fastener sleeve supplied can be used to hold the appli-
ance limbs together. It should always be used during stor-
age and transport.
Switching on
• While heating up, place the flat iron on a heat-resistant
surface or thermal mat.
• When switching on, the temperature is always preset to
previous temperature setting last used before switched
off.
