Removing/Inserting the Battery
To remove the battery, push in the release buttons
and pull the battery pack away from the tool.
Always lock the trigger or remove
WARNING
the battery pack any time the tool
is not in use.
To insert the battery, slide the pack into the body
of the tool. Make sure it latches securely into place.
Only use accessories specifically
WARNING
recommended for this tool. Others
may be hazardous.
To reduce the risk of injury, always wear proper
eye protection marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1.
Dust from surface coatings such as polyure-
thanes, linseed oil, etc., can self-ignite. Follow the
recommendations of the coatings manufacturers.
Shavings Collection Option
To keep the workplace cleaner, connect to a running
vacuum when using the planer.
1. Switch the shavings diverter to the left or right,
depending on the job.
2. Slide the included shavings collection attachment
onto the planer. Ensure it clicks into place.
NOTE: If you are not using the shavings collection
option, do not run the planer with the shavings
collection attachment installed on the tool.
3. Attach the included vacuum port to the shavings
collection attachment by pushing down on the
lever on the vacuum adapter.
4. Push a vacuum hose (1-1/4", 1-7/8", or 2-1/2"
diameter) onto the vacuum port.
5. To remove the vacuum and adapter, pull the
hose off the vacuum port and push the lever on
the adapter and pull to remove from the shavings
collection attachment.
At the end of each project, clear the shavings ejection
area of all debris.
1. Remove battery pack.
2. Use a non-marring (non-metallic) object to clear
the shavings ejection area of debris, such as the
blunt end of a pen or a pencil.
3. If necessary, use a vacuum to remove any extrane-
ous debris from the shavings ejection area.
Blades are sharp and fragile.

or damage to the blade can occur.
Installing/Replacing Blades
The planer blades have two
cutting edges, and may be
reversed when one of the
cutting edges becomes dull
or chipped. Do not sharpen
planer blades. Always change/
reverse blades in pairs. Use
only 2-1/4", tungsten-carbide
or carbide, double-edged (reversible) planer blades.

pairs. Unpaired blades can cause
increases in vibration, loss of control, and lower
tool performance.
To remove blades:
1. Remove battery pack.
2. Clean dust and debris from the blade drum.
3. Using the 1/8" hex wrench provided, loosen (do
not remove) the three blade bolts.
